The Richardson Olmsted Campus in Buffalo, New York, is a treasure trove of abandoned buildings nestled alongside one of the most successful architectural preservation and reuse projects in NY. Professor Miguel Guitart challenged his University at Buffalo-SUNY Architecture students to reimagine one such building as residential and directed them to follow several specific design constraints. The resulting concepts are detailed in this extended and informative catalog for an Exhibit of their models and designs that will take place in the Richardson Hotel, a National Historic Landmark on the Richardson Olmsted Campus. This process is replicable, an important consideration in an era of housing scarcity.
