Sometimes, you can take retail therapy too far. Sam works the night shift as a security guard for a dead mall. They're living out of their car. They're looking for an escape. When Sam happens upon an intruder dressed as if she's an extra from a Mad Max movie, they discover that the mall is a gateway to another world. Diane's world ended in 1983 in a nuclear holocaust. Sam's will end if Diane doesn't get back to the wasteland with the ragged Christmas catalog she lost inside the mall. Sam doesn't know what to believe, even after an armored knight riding a radioactive snake arrives to claim Diane and her catalog.
As they try to escape the mall, Sam realizes the catalog holds more than sentimental value. It serves more like a gamebook for Diane, one in which the rules are set by whoever holds the book. Giant Nutcrackers and zombie mall walkers stand between them and freedom, but Sam isn't so sure escape is the objective of the game.
