Dr. Harris is a native Arkansan who accepted Christ at the age of 34. Dr. Harris received Christ as a result of consistent soul winning efforts by his friend, Fred Shemwell.Dr. Harris attended college at Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College and later served on staff of the Twelfth Street Baptist Church, now known as Heritage Baptist Temple. Harris felt God's calling on his life. In 1971 he and his wife, Anita, left to attend the Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College in San Dimas, California.Upon graduation, he returned to Heritage Baptist Temple and served on staff until the Lord moved him to Russellville, Arkansas to accept his first pastorate. Dr. Harris pastored the River Valley Baptist Church for 3 years. During those three years the Lord blessed, souls were saved, and during one of those years it was the fastest growing church in the state.In 1978, Dr. Harris answered the call to pastor the Bible Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Arkansas.
The church grew from averaging 78 to well over 500, with high attendance days of over 1,000. For twelve of those years it was the largest Independent Baptist church in Arkansas. The missions giving of the church grew tremendously. Many missionary families were sent out of Bible Baptist Church under his pastorate. During his time as pastor of Bible Baptist Church, he founded the Jacksonville Christian Academy and Bethel Baptist College. Jacksonville Christian Academy grew to one of the largest Christian schools in the state.Dr. Harris founded Regions Beyond Publications and Regions Beyond Ministries for the purpose of helping pastors and missionaries build their ministries.
