Boozhoo, hello! I'm an author, illustrator, and artist from the Red Lake Nation (Anishinaabe aka Ojibwe aka Chippewa). I write, illustrate, and publish books for adults and children. My current work, Native Love Jams, is a contemporary romance set in the fictional Anishinaabe reservation of Rainy Bay and is centered around wild foods and food sovereignty; two things I am passionate for and have a background in. You can look for Native Love Jams this summer (2023). Other works include The Good Berry Cookbook: Harvesting and Cooking Wild Rice and Other Wild Foods (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2021), the middle grade illustrated book Gidjie and the Wolves (Not Too Far Removed Press, 2020) and Girl Unreserved (2015), a novella and fictionalized retelling of my own coming of age tale. Some of my illustration work includes 3 books in the Minnesota Native American Lives series (Wise Ink Creative Publishing, 2020), assistant illustrator of Gaa-pi-izhiwebak (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2021), and Gidjie and the Wolves (Not Too Far Removed Press, 2020). My short works include recipes, essays, poetry and short stories for various publications and currently I live in Duluth, MN with my husband, son, and a turtle.
