'Slick' Jones returns to life as a civilian after spending all of his adult life in the military, accompanied by his erstwhile C.I.D. partner, who assures him there will be ample opportunities in St. Louis. Pursuing separate moderately successful business paths they reunite frequently to take on and resolve various situations considered untouchable by authorities. Unorthodox in methodology, unrestricted by regulations, they enlist short term talent from a motley crew of street people, not the least of whom is the title character, Leroy. Not unexpectedly their success rate breeds retaliation.
