Hollywood has been introducing new songs since the first talking movies in the late 1920s and many of these songs have become part of America's cultural heritage. It may not be the most popular or the winner of movie awards but it is special. This book looks at 97 songs from 97 films. For each year, there is a general overview of what was going on in Hollywood and what major films were released. A description and discussion of the selected song of the year follows, including notable recordings. Each yearly entry concludes with a list of the other notable movie songs that year.
