Fred and Leoma Hines own Hines Peafowl Farm in Alabama, murderously acquired. A young woman, Julie, arrives at the farm by happenstance. Fred and Leoma's nephews also move there, eventually raping Julie, getting her pregnant. Leoma forces her to give birth, contributing to her eventual suicide. Fred and Leoma raise Julie's children, Chuck and Priscilla. Chuck is clairvoyant and begins having disturbing visions characterized by violence; his innocent response to them brings swift, deserved Justice.
