Born Josephine Emma Curtis in 1849 on a farm outside Killingly Connecticut, a school teacher during and immediately after the War Between the States. Married George Hopkins and had 1 son, John. She studied under Mary Baker Eddy in 1883, and edited the Christian Science Journal, but was sent away in 1885 for studying other writers. Moved to Chicago in 1886 and, with Mary Plunkett, established the Emma Curtis Hopkins Seminary. Plunkett left for New York in 1888, so a new seminary was formed, the Illinois Christian Science Seminary. This lasted until she shut it down in 1906 to travel, lecture, write, and provide individual treatments. She taught the founders of Unity (Charles and Myrtle Fillmore), of Homes of Truth (Harriet Ritz and Annie Rits Millitz), of Divine Science (the Brooks sisters) and Religious Science / Centers for Spiritual Living (Ernest Holmes). The 3 books in this volume represent the beginning and ending versions of her teachings.
