Dr. Lioba Howatson-Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing and Applied Clinical Studies teaching on pre-registration, post-registration and Masters level courses at Canterbury Christ Church University. Liobas clinical nursing background is mainly in acute nursing and practice development. She has taught at the University since 2003 and has a particular interest in assessment and decision-making. Her research interests are in exploring nurses learning and academic development. Lioba has published on these and clinical topics since 1999. Dr Mooi Standing is an Independent Academic Consultant. Mooi provides consultancy in international partnership development, curriculum planning, quality enhancement and continuing professional development both nationally and internationally.
Mooi practiced mental health and general nursing in various hospital and community settings and has over 20 years experience in nursing training/ education working within a higher education institution environment. Mooi is actively involved in the development of collaborative nursing and health care programmes at undergraduate and post graduate levels internationally. She has contributed to a number of undergraduate nursing books and has published papers in various peer reviewed journals on the subject of clinical decision-making and hermeneutic phenomenology. Mooi is also an accredited Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) reviewer, approving, monitoring and assuring the quality of nursing programmes throughout the United Kingdom. After qualifying as an RN in 1986, Sue completed a Diploma in Community Healthcare and worked as a District Nurse until 1997. She then took a post at Canterbury Christ Church University as a Nurse Fellow, before taking on her current role as a Senior Lecturer in 2000. She also has a BSc (Hons) in Community Health Care and an MA in Applied Social Science. Her professional interests include Primary Care, Public Health and Tissue Viability.
