The mission of the NFHS is to serve its members and its related professional groups by providing leadership and national coordination for the administration of interscholastic activities that will enhance the educational experiences of high school students and reduce risks of their participation. NFHS playing rules, available in 17 sports, govern virtually all high school athletic competition in the United States.
