After using a ghost's help to solve a murder and break up a human trafficking ring, Daphne decides to revisit her only unsolved case, the murder of a child some thirty years ago. With her police friend Miguel she goes to Southern California to try to find what happened to Maddy Laurens. In this case the ghosts that usually are there to help Daphne in her investigations are not available. The ghost of her grandmother tells her she must look within. Within takes her into her own repressed memories, where she finds that the crime was committed by a powerful psychic who has in many respects restrained her ability to use her own psychic powers. She must find the way to regain her own abilities while at the same time fighting a psychic murderer. The story is tense and emotional, and there are still ghosts involved, as there always are when Dapnhne is around.
