About the Author& ; & ; Larry Johansen is a second generation Alaskan from Ketchikan. World travelling has taken him to 40 countries. He has climbed the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere; been stranded in the driest place on earth; hosted by monks in Shanghai; crossed the Sinai penninsula with a military convoy; escorted out of Brazil by police; hiked the Annapurna Circuit; and can claim to have ridden an elephant and a camel before riding a horse. He now lives in Juneau, Alaska with his two children and their dog - a black lab named Chino.& ; & ; He began book writing when one year he matched up his photography, with his journals of world travel, and created a book for his children to read.& ; & ; His second book, XTRATUF: An Alaskan Way of Life, is one of the rare books about Alaska that focuses on the people who choose to live here. It celebrates the unique life style of the "rain forest people." It can be considered the companion piece to The Alexander Eighteen.

& ; & ; A fourth book, a year in the making, was almost done when The Alexander Eighteen was started. Look for its release in 2013.& ; & ; LarryJohansen@rowdydogimages.com.
