Becky was born a rebel in a Christian family. By age thirteen her wounded heart propelled her to run fast and hard from any and all things that looked, tasted, or smelled of Christianity. She bailed on church, and what that meant in her deep places (since she couldn't separate the two), was she bailed on God. Good riddance. Her feet took to the pavement and she was gone. She ran for twenty five years. A prodigal daughter who reluctantly returned Home with her tail between her legs and massive amounts of God-baggage. It was the welcome of grace, love, and mercy that left a great impression on her rebel heart, and can also be found behind every word she writes.
Her passion lies with the disenfranchised and those who would never darken the door of a church. Becky writes to them first. But then to everyone else who is seeking real freedom. She doesn't come with a hidden agenda. There is no bait and switch. She doesn't draw you in to then weigh you down with a laundry list of religious rules. No! Becky points the reader to the One who called himself the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6); who promised to set the captives free (Luke 4:18); and teach us unforced rhythms of grace (Matthew 11:28-30).
