Jay Johnson has enjoyed gas and oil and anything and everything mechanical for his entire life. Jay grew up in San Leandro California at a time where high schools had shop programs where Jay took every class available and worked part time at a Dodge dealership during the late 60's and the muscle car error and learned from his mentor Hurb Harkey the dealership co-owner. Jay enlisted in the US coast guard right after high school and spent active and reserve duty on ocean going tenders and latter search and rescue missions. Jay was a rated engineman with extensive knowledge and training on the GM diesel engines as well as skipper of USCG small boat search and rescue vessels. Jay earned his pilot's and FAA A&P mechanics license going to night school and became a master mechanic and flight engineer within the corporate aviation industry making international trips on the early Gulfstream II aircraft and Locheed Jetstars. Latter Jay working in the aviation engine overhaul and maintenance industry as a sales engineer troubleshooting turbine engine problems on everything from Rolls Royce Spey engines, Pratt and whitney PT6 and Allison engines traveling the US and Canada. Jay has restored several cars himself, started Vintage Auto Garage an on-line seller of classic car parts and accessories and now manages his car parts business, provides technical supports and writes technical data and booklets.
