Laekan Zea Kemp is the author of the picture books A Crown for Corina with art by Pura Belpré Honoree Elisa Chavarri, Home is a Heartbeat illustrated by Magdalena Mora, and Desert Song illustrated by Beatriz Gutiérrez Hernández. Her YA novels include Somewhere Between Bitter and Sweet , a Pura Belpré Honor Book and a Kirkus , Publishers Weekly , and NYPL Best Book of 2021, with starred reviews from Kirkus and Publishers Weekly ; Heartbreak Symphony ; and An Appetite for Miracles .
