In 2012, the state of Ohio mandated that all K-12 teachers in all major content areas include both career exploration and career planning into their yearly curriculum. In 2015-2016, Zane State education students determined via surveys to local teachers that most teachers felt overwhelmed and under resourced for time and lesson plans for this particular topic.Based upon these survey results, students formulated the idea of creating an easy to use career planning and exploration resource guide designed particularly for middle school teachers of the Appalachian area. This resource guide provides five effective and creative, lesson plans that would work well in any given middle school classroom. Likewise, information is included on educational resources in the local area as well as online that teachers can easily access concerning both lesson planning and resources for the Appalachian student.Written, designed, and formatted by Zane State education students, this resource guide will serve as a wonderful supplement in the Appalachian middle school classroom.
