Chris Alice Kratzer is an engineer and scientist with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Chris is among the top 400 identifiers on the Community Science platform iNaturalist.org with over 50,000 identifications. She studied wasps while volunteering at the Cornell University Insect Collection (CUIC). In 2018 she decided she ought to write a book about it. So she did. Born with two letters to her name, Chris is a proud member of the LGBT+ community. She was very fortunate to avoid any major issues in her own studies, but most women with similar experiences (including many of her peers) are not so lucky.

As a queer woman, Chris hopes this book will make a case for the benefits of diversity in the field of Entomology. #TransRights. Chris is happily living in her home state of New Jersey. She volunteers with the nonprofit collegiate organization Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW), and is working hard to start her own business in the field of Sustainable Technology Development. You can follow along with her progress at OwlflyLLC.com. At the time of this writing, Chris is 25 years old.
