Dolores Krieger, PhD,RN is Professor Emerita of Nursing Science, New York University, and co-creator of Therapeutic Touch (TT). She is a recognized theorist on holistic nursing and an innovative researcher on the dynamics of natural healing. At NYU her graduate-level course on healing, Frontiers of Nursing, has been taught each semester since 1974, and its format has been replicated internationally at other universities. An early proponent of the holistic perspective, Dr. Krieger has been a radical pioneer of fresh, innovative thinking in post-modern professional nursing, and an initiator of the terms," The Renaissance Nurse", "nurse-healer", and "technicians of compassion" to describe its advocates.Dr. Krieger's work on Therapeutic Touch has been credited with being the first healing method formally taught within a fully accredited university graduate curriculum, and, particularly at the doctoral level, it is the most extensively researched to date. As a nursing intervention, TT is considered an extension of professional skills.

At this writing, more than 50 doctoral dissertations and post-doctoral researches on the Therapeutic Touch process have been completed. Internationally TT has been taught to more than 200,000 people in 104 countries . In the USA alone it has been taught at more than 60 colleges and universities, and TT has been practiced in over 50 medical centers.Dr. Krieger is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nursing. During her tenure at New York University Dr. Krieger created 5 leading-edge courses at the graduate level, which furthered insight into the development of postmodern nursing science. Internationally known, she has traveled extensively around the world presenting her theories, concepts and current perspectives on the healing process.

With 8 books that are translated into 9 foreign languages, and more than 400 professional papers and articles to her credit, she has been widely sought after as a radio and television personality in the USA and abroad.
