Vicki is an immigrant from Sweden and has lived in the USA for over thirty years. Her passion is discovering and understanding why we do what we do. Her biggest pet peeves are society's labels and system boxes. She believes all of us are "mental" because it's a process of the brain and not necessarily pathological. She says she is a fellow human if nothing else. She has a private telehealth practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) serving other professionals in select states and coaching internationally. She holds certification as a Reality Therapist through the William Glasser Institute specializing in Choice Theory Psychology. As a psychologist, her doctoral research focused on the role of appraisal in stress and psychological distress.

In her practice she uses an educational and integrative approach based on raw research as opposed to prepackaged tools and always with an emphasis on the impact of exchange of information through dialogue.Spanning her professional career, her positions have been geared towards impacting change. They have included Deputy Director of Behavioral Health for the State of New Mexico, Chief Clinical Officer in managed care covering a seven-county mental health authority, Advisor and Coordinator in national efforts for education reform, social service integration, workforce development, and community emergency response projects. Her contributions to grant initiatives began in the 1990's serving changes through School-to-Work, Trauma Informed Care, Veteran Affairs, and SAMHSAs collaborative work with the Suicide Prevention Resource Center on the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. She has served on the Board of Directors with the William Glasser Institute and is currently serving on the board for the Swedish American Heritage Society. In her spare time Vicki enjoys being creative. From writing, home remodel, to painting and various hobbies like fishing, cooking, boating, and gardening. She is an insatiable learner who is always interested in exploring new ideas in documentaries, books, and listening to people's stories.

Most importantly she is a mother of two, a grandmother of three, a sister, daughter, and friend. Human. Navigating all that life throws her way. Just like you.
