A widely used reference work, "A Handlist of Rhetorical Terms has been reprinted many times over the last two decades. The second edition, which appeared in book form in 1991, provides the core of this computer hypertext. The "Hypertext Handlist preserves the entire text of the second edition, with its completely revised alphabetical listing of nearly 1,000 terms of classical rhetoric, its many new examples and extended entries for central terms, and a revised system of cross-references. To this enriched reference tool the hypertext version adds extensive hyperlinks, audio pronunciations of key terms, animations of selected figures of arrangement, and George Puttenham's "Englished" nomenclature of 1589. Terms can be searched by name or type, and cross-references can be reached by a simple mouse click. Every aspect of the "Handlist's scholarly usefulness has been enhanced by this new hypertext format. It will be an invaluable tool for students of literature, classics, and rhetoric.System Requirements: Macintosh computers with a 640 x 400 screen (including PowerBooks; and 13" or larger screens) with a minimum of 8 MB of RAM (with at least 2 MB of RAM allocated to Hypercard), System 7.
