Donna Kay Lau is an Oscar-qualified, award-winning, and Emmy-honored television animator, author, and illustrator with over 25 years of experience in children's entertainment.As a veteran TV animator at Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, Lau has contributed to major productions, including Dora the Explorer, CatDog, Oswald the Octopus, Generator Rex, Ben 10, and Regular Show. She was honored with an Emmy by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for her contributions to a Best Animated Short production.Lau is the creator of the Surf Soup cartoon and children's book series. Her debut book in the series, Surf Soup, introduces young readers to her imaginative world. She is also the author of How to Make Cartoons, alongside several health and fitness titles including Fitness Gym, Bikini for Life, I Grow People, and Secret Sauce for Cyclists.A self-described "Student for Life," Lau has extensive training in traditional and digital animation, augmented reality, graphics packaging design, and children's book illustration, including studies at the Art Center College of Design. Her fine art has been featured in numerous galleries across California and Hawai'i.

Dividing her time between Southern California and Hawai'i, Lau draws inspiration from the coastal culture of both regions. When she is not surfing or working as a fitness trainer, she enjoys learning Chinese traditions and cooking from her parents.
