Celeste is a sirena who has always been overlooked and never meets the expectations of her parents and peers. She especially lives in the shadow of her successful older sister who died years ago. While celebrating Dia de Los Muertos, an unexpected turn of events sends Celeste on a quest to prove and discover her self-worth by hoping to accomplish an impossible, ancient sirena tradition: hunting for stars. The book "Hunting for Stars" explores the complexities of being unable to let go of the past. Stars -in this story- can represent our past traumas or joys fading away as time progresses, though they maintain a burning, well-visible presence with us in present time, affecting our expectations of others and our future.
