Jin Lee is a female interdisciplinary artist and the mother of her future family. Lee presents hope for life by acknowledging the vulnerability of one's desire and capacity for the variable possibilities. She chooses her motifs from domestic objects with inherent movement in their fixed body or vice versa and abstracts them into geometric sequences. She employs print media, sculpture, furniture design, and digital to create a fictional domestic scene of the future. The replicas of domestic motifs are simulacra of the future family generated by game rules from the characteristics and limitations of the production. Lee uses game rules to estrange production processes. This process enables a single idea to be created multiple times and reproduced in other times and spaces. Therefore, each project exists over its physicality and time and reflects her bodily desire to meet her future family.
Jin Lee is born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, and currently working in Chicago after achieving BFA and MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
