This is a sequel to D.I.Y. Welsh of which one enthusiastic reviewer from America wrote 'I hope D. Geraint Lewis writes more exercise books like this one. I truly enjoyed it, and the color coding is a genius method.' Here an attempt is made to explain some of the many things Welsh learners fail to understand mainly because of the Latin terminology used in formal grammar, which becomes even more abstruse when conveyed in Welsh. The book concentrates on standard written Welsh as this provides a more consistent structural pattern than the varieties of spoken Welsh that exist.
The author questions 'Why' the patterns of Welsh differ so significantly in places from English and so many European languages, and has ventured to set this out as 'A Welsh Manifesto'. While intended for learners moving on from D.I.Y. Welsh, it will also be useful for fluent Welsh speakers who find formal grammar difficult, and for whom the barked instruction 'Use your ears!' has proved insufficient.
