John "Hypocrace" Lewis, "your favorite poet's favorite poet," has been in the poetry community for 10+ years. He represented Kansas City along with his team "FTW" on a national poetry slam level in 2015, 17, and 18. He is the current slam master of "The Regulators," ranked 5th in the Midwest region 16th in the southern region, the host of I am Hypocrace presents: Third Thursday's during poetry on the vine paying artist to feature, slam or cypher. He is the creator of Spoken Easy, a prohibition-style open mic.He has become a crowd favorite at the local open mic "Soul Sessions" held on Mondays at the Kc Juke House on the historic 18th and Vine, gaining him acknowledgment from media outlets such as 41 Action News and 38 the spot as well as being a featured poet in the month of April 2018 by the Music and More Foundation. His hard work and love of the craft doesn't go unnoticed, as he was nominated in the Kansas City Poetry Awards for both Poet of the Year and Best Slam Poet 2018. 2021/22 and a 2022 finalist for the Best Male Spoken Word Artist Award from the National Spoken Word Awards. He was a 2021/22 finalist for the Kansas City People Choice Awards (top 5), winning the 2022 award and Sponsored Artist of the Year for Poetry for Personal Power.
