C. M. Lockhart (also known simply as Chelsea) is a writer of fantasy because she loves creating worlds, exploring relationships, and writing stories about Black girls who aren't all that nice. She's been writing since the age of fourteen and there's nothing else she'd rather be doing with her life. Her debut novel, We Are the Origin, was released in June 2022 and its sequel, We Are Dying Gods, was released August 2023. The first book of her latest series, The Lady Widow, releases March 2025. Aside from being an indie author, she is the owner of Written in Melanin, the founder of the Melanin Library, and the host of the Written in Melanin Podcast. On her YouTube channel, she shares her writing journey and the things she's learned from it, does writing sprints, and hosts the Melanin Chat - a talk show dedicated to discussing all things related to being Black and an author.

On occasion, she also hosts interviews and shares books to help promote other Black authors. She is a lover of video games and anime, and enjoys cooking, napping, and ranting to anyone who will listen. So, whenever she isn't reading and writing - or talking about reading and writing - she's watching anime and dreaming about the day her books get their own animations.
