This is the story of an OSS group in England during WWII, led by a young American military historian, who is considered the best in her field. She works with the man she loves, who is a statistician, and together they work with the team to formulate "Crystal Balls," or accurate predictions of future moves of the German Wehrmacht. Statistics, German military historical precedence and character studies of the German higher command, including Hitler, are in the ingredients of Code Name: Commodore. Besides their secret romance, there is inter-ally intrigue as they push to end the war early with intelligence determinations that go against the British war plan. Along the way, as they try to change history, they meet with Eisenhower in his secret Goodge Street headquarters. They also meet with FDR at his Hyde Park estate, to try to end the war early, after flying back home on a Navy 'Pan Am Clipper'. All of the history is accurate in this eventful novel and it could well be used to help teach a class on the history of WWII.
