Judy Lowe (Columbia, South Carolina) has had a lifelong love of gardening and has been writing about it for more than twenty-five years. She became interested in gardening from her mother, who could grow anything. Although Lowe had no idea that she could use horticultural knowledge professionally, her early background compelled her to take horticulture classes in college while majoring in English. Thus was born a garden writer. Lowe has been the garden editor of the Chattanooga Times-Free Press and The Christian Science Monitor . She has been extremely active in Garden Writers Association (a group of more than 2,000 members), serving on the board for fourteen years and as president for two years. Lowe's books include Herbs! Creative Herb Garden Themes and Projects , Tennessee & Kentucky Gardener's Guide , Month-by-Month Gardening in Tennessee and Kentucky , and Ortho's All About Pruning . Her numerous magazine articles have appeared in Woman's Day and Southern Living .
Lowe has won awards from the GWA, including being named a Fellow at the 2011 annual meeting, the National Garden Bureau, and many other groups. Lowe and her husband have lived and gardened all over the United States, but no matter where she lives, helping gardeners is her life's goal.
