A young man's journey around his father's land more than a decade after he left it in order to understand the nature of his identity. It turned out that he was Nigerian (sort of) to those who knew him and British to those who didn't, which only further compounded his dilemma until, as they say (well, Dickens, actually, in Great Expectations), he took the matter out of the realm of philosophy altogether and thereby vanquished it - but only after he had written the book.
