MICKEY J. "MIKE" MARTIN was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma, and attended school in the Towns of Hoffman and Bryant. After his family moved to the central San Joaquin Valley in the early Fifties, he completed degree programs at Cal State University and the University of Northern Colorado and began a life-long career in community college teaching and administration. His avocational interests include writing about town site communities and schools that were brought into being shortly after land in what once was Oklahoma Indian Territory was made available for outside settlement. Because many of the descendents of these settlers ended up departing for California or other locations during the years of Dust Bowl and Great Depression, he writes about the experiences of migrant Oklahomans as well. His books ("My Indian Territory School" and "Bryant: A Creek Indian Nation Townsite") and narrated presentations on these topics have been well received on many occasions. Today, he and his wife Ginny live in Visalia, California.
