Martin has created an engaging, immersive world that captures your interest from the very beginning. With characters who quickly feel like old friends, you soon find yourself lost in the magical world of the Soul Keepers, and their role as guardians of Mother Earth. As a Glenormiston South native, Martin paints an exquisitely-detailed picture of the landscape of the area, which binds the entire story. It feels as though we are walking beside Angel and her family as they navigate their world, and the setting is rich with the magic of nature. The plot itself is a delightful blend of 'good vs. evil', paranormal entities, and gripping romance. The characters are all unique and realistic, each with overwhelming strengths, yet flawed, as all people are. Their relatability grounds the story and makes the magical elements all the more believable, as well as creating deep attachments to them and the journeys they go on.
Overall, I was thoroughly hooked on The Soul Keepers of Glenormiston South, and cannot wait to read not only the sequel, Obsidian Souls, but the entire 'Victorian Collection'. Amanda Maynard-Schubert author, The Bards of Birchtree Hall Soul Keepers of Glenormiston South is hands down one of my favourite books ever! Right up there with Trudi Canavan and, in my opinion, even better than Sarah J. Maas. It has been months since I've read this book and I still talk about the characters like old friends, and cannot wait to get my hands on the second book. I was actually a little sad for days after I finished reading it that I couldn't dive back into this world that Mickey Martin has created. The characters jump off each page as you turn them, seeming so real. I am a highly visual person, and the whole book just played out before me like a movie. The story is strong, the characters remain true to themselves, and the plot is fantastic.
I absolutely need to know what happens to Max. I want prequels. I want sequels. These people became part of my own world. It is so rich in magic, but you really believe in all their powers. It is an absolute killer of a novel. Five Stars all the way for me. Kelly Clark Garden Babies Fine Fairy Art/Portraits and Photography A rollicking adventure with an important message, this book had me hooked from the start.
Just when I thought it had run out of twists and turns it took me down a new, unexpected path, fuelling my imagination and nurturing my romantic heart along the way. In Soul Keepers of Glenormiston South, Mickey Martin transforms a natural landscape and normal human beings alike into superheroes that do amazing things, while at the same time showing the depth of their humanity. This book is darkness and light, tragic and victorious, graphic and uncompromising in its telling. I loved the use of magical realism to show us Mother Earth and the problems she faces, as well as providing insightful solutions that are within our grasp, if we only listen. Julia Kaylock Author, poet, editor, and publisher A must read for lovers of fantasy and romance who love and respect our planet. Mickey does drama and tension so well, making Soul Keepers a great read with memorable characters and themes. But, mostly, the overall message is relevant and so important today. We can all do more to be healing souls to our precious Mother Earth.
Danielle Hughes Four Moons Publishing Soul Keepers of Glenormiston South is a truly an incredible experience. This dark, paranormal romance will immerse you completely into its world. You. Will. Not. Want. To. Leave! As a local, I was thrilled to read that the Glenormiston landscape was woven so exquisitely into the life-blood of the story, and I could honestly not stop reading.
