Enter into the mystical world of the brilliant mind of this famous magician from Elizabethan times who excelled in times of great advances in learning and also persecution. The guidebook takes an in-depth and interesting look at John Dee's background and work before talking us through how the oracle itself works and leading us into the card descriptions. The depth of research here is impressive and extremely fascinating to anyone with an interest in esoteric studies. This is a 28 card boxed deck with stunning black and white imagery from Wil Kinghan. The cards are split into seven sub-sections of four which consider each aspect of John Dee's expertise from astrologer to mathematician and also brings into focus other contemporaries and brilliant people from other eras with parallel experience. Elizabeth I also makes an appearance in the deck as 'Gloriana' which is a beautiful bonus card. The artwork is gorgeous and really brings the card characters' stories to life.

The qualities of each card's genius can be used in the oracle reading in conjunction with specific placements on John Dee's Talisman of the Golden Temple. For people who are familiar with Tarot, the Talisman placements are very similar to the elemental worlds of Air, Earth, Fire and Water and the central placement relating to the querent. The guidebook also tells us what each card means in each of the placements. As well as detailed instruction into how to ask questions and carry out readings using the cards, John Matthews tells us how we can also use the cards to scry, for meditation and also introduces the reader to the power of the Enochian alphabet. This Oracle deck is totally unique and a beautiful, informative addition to any Oracle deck lover's collection. I have learned a lot from the pages of this guidebook which has enabled me to carry out card readings based around the original and magickal work of John Dee. I look forward to practising more with the cards themselves and also mixing them in with other card readings. This Oracle deck will bring a greater depth into any card reader's practise and I would highly recommend it.
