This book summarises the origins of corporate social responsibility, business ethics and corporate governance before presenting several methods for evaluating similarities and differences in these three perspectives on business activity. First, ethical issues are appraised from a descriptive, normative and analytical standpoint. This allows the reader to compare the values and beliefs underpinning business decisions in different cultures and to examine how these values are justified. Second, ethical issues occur in an internal context, whenever the values and beliefs of a majority threaten the equitable treatment of individuals and groups in organisations; and in an external context, in matters affecting consumer affairs, environmental protection, globalisation, Third World developments, and ethical investment. Third, ways of managing a plurality of values and beliefs are addressed by adapting organisational culture and stakeholder theory frameworks to enhance corporate social performance through ethical leadership and effective reputation management. Key features: · Each part is written as a self contained module and each chapter as a free-standing unit of study, providing a comprehensive account of the development of corporate social responsibility, business ethics and corporate governance. · A Moral Compass exercise is included at the end of each part to encourage readers to evaluate their own ethical perspectives and to discuss differences in their moral perspectives in informal groups. · Case studies at the end of each chapter describe real-life events and are included to develop the reader's skills in evaluating ethical issues that have occurred in actual organisations.

· Questions and short case study assignments are also included at the end of every chapter so that readers can test their knowledge and understanding This book is ideal for students of corporate social responsibility, business ethics and corporate governance at undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA level.
