Tally Newsome opened her ranch to young people looking for a second chance at life after spending time in jail. Her program offers training in all aspects of ranching to prepare the young offenders with skills that will offer a choice to turn them away from a life of crime. To her surprise, her latest guest is a man in his early thirties, more than a decade older than the teenagers she usually hosts. Standoffish and reserved, he doesn't fit in with the rest of the crew, but Tally does her best to find some area of interest she could encourage.Devon Henderson has only a few months left on his sentence and jumps at the chance to spend them at a kind of half-way house-or ranch. He is only marking time, but gets caught up with the program and soon is volunteering to work on the ranch's accounts, and show the others in the program basic accounting. He never expected to be attracted to his hostess.
After the experience that got him sent to prison, he vowed never to get close to anyone-especially a woman. He does his best, but Tally seems to seep into his thoughts until he knows he has to leave or risk his heart a second time.
