It is similar to tort in England. It occurs when someone is hurt physically, mentally or financially and has a right to compensation or damages. Delict is a really interesting area of law, not least because of the range of legal cases it deals with and the odd situations people get into - one case is about a woman finding that she had drunk some ginger beer from a bottle which contained a snail! It is also an essential element of knowledge for any student wishing to practice law in the future. The module also focusses on developing student''s writing and problem solving skills and gives plenty of opportunity to practice and develop those skills through regular tutorials and exercises.
