The sixth book in the Guides for the Prairie Gardener series written by Master Gardeners who are recognized experts in their field, and well-loved community educators. Specifically written for Zones 1-4: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine This series embraces the Q&A format, and the questions are the most-asked questions that the authors receive during their regular classes and workshops that they offer. Other than the Lois Hole series of gardening books, which is now quite dated, there are very few updated, modern-looking print resources for prairie gardeners. One of the co-authors is the administrator of the Facebook group "Alberta Gardening" which has grown to nearly 58K members in less than three years Full-colour interior with updated information for today's issues including water conservation and climate change, food security, and natural pesticide usage. Both of these instalments are more relevant for all seasons than previous books in the series. The design of these books is minimalist and bright. The aesthetic is geared towards a younger audience, because we have found there is a lot of interest from that demographic, but few books about gardening specifically for them. The first two books were released in S20 and we had a bit of a slow start due to COVID, but with the release of 3 and 4 in S21, the full series started to sell quite well.

In Canada we have sourced cardboard display options for all six books and are working to sell them directly into gardening centres. Releasing in early February to ensure that they're in the market for the start of the gardening season in March. Shares advice and recommendations to help you successfully grow trees and shrubs from the ground up. Trouble shoots common issues like a tree's failure to produce fruit, girdling, and weather-related challenges, as well as an introduction to pests and diseases like leaf miners, leaf rollers, leafhoppers, and their friends. They also provide prairie-specific lists of recommended trees and shrubs for flower displays, autumn colour, beautiful bark, smaller yards, hedges, and shade. Trees and shrubs together make up the bulk of Earth's biomass. They are responsible for carbon dioxide storage, oxygen production, movement of water, and a host of other functions. In our gardens, trees and shrubs provide numerous benefits, including reducing air, light, and noise pollution, protecting our homes from wind, cold, and heat, and providing habitat for birds, insects, and other animals.
