A superbly classy 2-volume set. Volume 1 covers general hospitals and health centres, presenting 53 such facilities. Volume 2 shows specialist clinics and medical departments, and there are 49 of these, grouped by speciality. The photography and plans are of a consistently high standard and there are also short essays addressing the design exi-gencies of medical buildings. This set is required reading for architects or designers in this field; it does throw down a gauntlet of quality and simplicity for books of this ilk.
