When a church begins a stage production, it is important that the cast and crew realize that they will be ministering to people who may never enter a church for a Sunday sermon. Thus, for some it may be their only chance to hear the Gospel and accept Jesus as their Savior. Therefore, it is my firm conviction that the church must take the performance out of the production. In short, that means that the production elements have to be carried out so well that they are not noticed. Nothing should distract the audience members from the message being presented. I have had several people tell me that this book is great for large churches, but that it has no relevance to small churches. I beg to differ, because each production position listed and detailed, is required for a production to be successful. The only difference between a large church setting and a small church setting is that in a large church, one person fills each position, while in a small church, each position is still necessary, so the production personnel, from the Executive Producer all the way to the bottom of the organization chart, have to fill multiple roles.
