Dillwyn Miles (1916-2007) was born in nearby Newport and knew Nevern from childhood. After serving in the Middle East in WWII and a period as national organiser at Palestine House in London, he returned to Pembrokeshire and became involved in the voluntary services, local government, local history, the National Eisteddfod and the West Wales Field Society. His published works include 'Portrait of Pembrokeshire', 'The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park', 'The Sheriffs of the County of Pembroke', 'A Pembrokeshire Anthology', 'The Castles of Pembrokeshire', a revised version of George Owen's 'Description of Pembrokeshire', 'The Ancient Borough of Newport in Pembrokeshire' and 'The Lords of Cemais'.
