O.P. Mishra : O.P. Mishra is a Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India (F.N.A.Sc.
) for his pioneering work involving Applied Geophysics / Seismology / Disaster Risk Management having over 30-years of experience in different fields of earth sciences and seismology. He obtained M.Sc. Tech degree from IIT (ISM)-Dhanbad in Applied Geophysics; Ph.D.; D.Sc. from Geodynamics Research Centre, Ehime University, Japan in Seismology; Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDMA) from Centre of Education of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi, the Apex body of Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) with specialization in Finance Management.
Dr. Mishra worked with: IDRC-Canada in a joint venture project with CMPDIL, Coal India during 1992 - 1995; served Geological Survey of India for about 20-years (1995 - 2014). He worked with SAARC Disaster Management Centre, New Delhi as the Head / Director; He also worked at GRCJapan as the FOREIGN Visiting Guest Professor (November 2005 - December 2006). He was given the honor to represent SAARC Member States to different UNOs agencies, such as UNDP; UNESCAP; UNISDR; UNOCHA; UNHABITAT. Dr. Mishra also contributed to IRP; ADPC; ADRC, USAID; ECO as the invited Panelist and he contributed significantly in the field of Disaster Risk Management. He is a widely travelled scientist/academician, and professional to different countries of the world having credentials to execute flagship projects funded by the UNISDR, and the World Bank for Disaster risk resiliency for South Asia. He is a LIFE Member of several professional bodies of international and national repute, such as AGU-USA; SSA-USA; SSJ-Japan; JPGU-Japan; ISCA-India; AOGS-Singapore; IUGG- Germany; MGMI-India, IMS-India; IIPA-India; IGU-India; ISES-India; AEG-India.
He is recipient of several awards and Honors, including, Visiting Professorship by JSPS-Japan in the year 2005; National Mineral Award-2008 for Disaster Risk Management in Applied Geosciences by the Govt. of India; A.S. Arya Award-2014 by IIT-Roorkee, Govt. of India; Anni Talwani Gold Medal-2015 by Indian Geophysical Union; Dr. Mishra has supervised and guided a total of 40- students and researchers for their higher study during Master and Doctoral courses, including 10- Scholars for Ph.D degree from various Universities of India. He has more than 150-research publications, including edited books/reports/special issues/ roadmaps on various themes of seismology, geophysics, interdisciplinary Earth sciences, DRR / in peered reviewed journals of national and international repute.
D.C. Naskar : D.C. Naskar received M.Sc. in Physics from Calcutta University. He was conferred with doctorate degrees from Jadavpur University.
He worked for three and half years in Assistant Teacher in Physics in West Bengal Govt. Aided HS School. He also worked in West Bengal State Electricity Board, Santaldih, Purulia, West Bengal and Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant in South Eastern Railway in Waltair, Andhra Pradesh prior to join in GSI. He joined GSI in July 1989. Dr. D.C. Naskar has held the position of Director (Geophysics) in Geological Survey of India (GSI).
Over thirty two (32) years of experience in geophysical mapping employing gravity, magnetic, deep resistivity, GPS, and magnetotelluric (MT), and seismic techniques at different regions of Geological Survey of India (GSI). In his 32 years of geophysical research, he has published more than 120 research publications in recognized national and international journals as well as book chapters, seminars, workshops and 52 GSI unpublished reports of mineral exploration, structural and tectonic studies, groundwater investigations, environmental studies and geophysical mapping in different parts of the country. He has visited Metronix Germany for MT survey & Cape Town, South Africa in order to attend 35th IGC. He was conferred with "H. S. Pareek Award" for the best paper on coal science published in the journal of Geological Society of India in 2008. Attended in kimberlite project with De Beers Company (Bangalore) as collaborative nature with Geological Survey of India (GSI). He was associated with DMT Pvt Solution Ltd.
as a Chief Consultant (Geophysics). Presently he is serving in National Centre for Seismology (NCS), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, New Delhi as Consultant.
