An anomaly in the space-time continuum brings the Doctor to Hollywood during the Roaring Twenties, where he makes new friends and new enemies. In the process he rescues Emily Winter from certain death. The Doctor is then put on trial by the Shadow Proclamation for having saved her, thus breaking the rules set out by the Time Lords and interfering with a fixed point in time. Furthermore, the universe is riddled with people who would be dead if not for the Doctor's interference. Now he must face even worse consequences, as one of his jurors is a sworn enemy. But he may have more to fear from the mysterious 'Advocate' whose reasons for defending him are somewhat unclear.
