As an architect in a design and build team, I'm always keen to develop my understanding of structural principles, without feeling isolated by overly-complex calculations. This book certainly satisfied in that respect, and the detail is there for those that wish to pursue further. Hugh sets out the importance of early structural input to achieve a successful project; to explore the core design principles from a functional, economic and aesthetic standpoint. Recommended as a comprehensive, refreshing read and reference source. W Harvey What every junior structural Engineer needs (can't speak for seniors as I'm at graduate level). I have bought a number of structural engineering books - this book, by far, was the most frequently used in my day-to-day tasks. The book contains practical knowledge, that once acquired, will assist in the daily tasks carried out in the office. Great book! D Zaid.
