He went on to attain his MRCS diploma the following year and his diploma in Postgraduate Healthcare Education in 2012. He maintains a keen interest in surgical education, and teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate surgery courses. Mohammed Asif Chaudry is a specialist registrar in surgery in London and surgical oncologist in training with an interest in gastrointestinal cancer. He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford where he was awarded a scholarship and gained MA, BM BCh degrees from Oxford University with distinction in 1999. His subsequent postgraduate training was in Oxford and London.


His principal research interest is the tumour antigen EpCAM, its involvement in tumour establishment and metastasis as well as its potential as a target for immunotherapy. He was the chair of the cancer sessions at the International Drug Discovery Science and Technology Conference, held in Beijing and Xian, China in 2007 and 2008, and he has worked on various relief projects with Doctors Worldwide. He was one of the founders of the City Circle, Careers and Mentoring Project, and has contributed numerous chapters for various medical publications. Muntzer Mughal is Honorary Clinical Professor in Surgery, Consultant Surgeon and Head of Upper Gastrointestinal Services at the University College Hospitals, London. He specialises in oesophago-gastric surgery including benign and malignant disease. He is also joint Oesophago-gastric Pathways Director for London Cancer. He is on the panel of examiners for the Intercollegiate Specialty Board in General Surgery and a member of Invited Review Panel of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In the past he has served as a member of the Appraisal Committee of the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the Research for Patient Benefit Committee of the NIHR.


In the North West, he also served as President of the Manchester Regional Association of Surgeons, President of the Surgical Section of the Manchester Medical Society and as the Royal College Regional Specialty Advisor for General Surgery.
