Murder and mystery in the mountains! When Daniel Larch, billionaire CEO and medical technology pioneer, resurrects an age-old surgery - the amygdalotomy - to rehabilitate serial killers, he believes that he's changed the world forever. And to convince the skeptical public and critics, Larch decides a public relations campaign is in order. So Larch brings the five (supposedly) reformed killers on whom his team has performed the surgery to a remote, snowy, luxurious hotel in Alaska to conduct interviews with a major news network. But Larch is having extramarital affairs; his company is in financial trouble; Russian competition seek to buy him out; his doctors are quarreling; the grieving (and vengeful) widower of one of the serial killers' victims appears; and the media interviewer had to be replaced at the last moment by an unethical journalist. When a snowstorm hits the Alaskan valley where the Endicott Hotel is located, Larch et al. are trapped inside the hotel - but that soon proves to be the least of their concerns. In view of all his guests, Larch is poisoned to death during his interview. Suddenly his relatives are clamoring for control of his billion dollar company, and the success of the killers' psychosurgery is called into question.

Walter Churchfield, former LAPD detective and current head of security for Pioneer Medical Technologies, steps in to control the situation. As more people are murdered, a literary clue is found at the scene of each death. Churchfield must use his reason, logic, and analytical skills, remaining cool even as his own life is put into danger, to discover who is committing the murders in the Endicott Hotel.
