An account of the emigration from Ireland of the Author's Great Uncle, his life and work in Canada in the years 1911 to 1916, and his service in the First World War with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on the Western Front,ending with his death aged 24 at Passchendaele in November 1917. The book also recounts the story of the subject's brother and cousins who also served during the War. The source material consists of letters written by the subjects during the years in question and preserved by their family.
