Sally Nicholls (Author) Sally Nicholls grew up in Stockton-on-Tees, and after school, travelled the world, working for a period at a Red Cross hospital in Japan. Sally's first novel, Ways to Live Forever , won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and she has been shortlisted for the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize , the Costa Children's Book Award , and the Carnegie Medal , twice. She lives in Liverpool with her husband and two sons. Carolina Rabei (Illustrator) Carolina Rabei is an illustrator with a BA in Graphic Design, and a distinction in the MA in Children's Book Illustration from the prestigious Cambridge School of Art. Carolina's books have been nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal , shortlisted for the Read It Again! award and featured on The Independent 's list of 11 Best Books for 4 to 7-Year-Olds.
