This is the story of what happens after a cyclist is hit by a car, through no fault of her own, in a felony hit and run. The resulting traumatic, life threatening, and life altering events associated with this event are painfully described and are heartbreaking. The cyclist's miraculous survival and recuperation is full of suffering and occasional humor . She was in a coma for 5 weeks, followed by months of awaking from the coma and years of rehabilitation. The resulting arrest and trial of the perpetrator is covered and the results provide further evidence for a need to improve California's laws surrounding hit and run to better protect innocents.
