What the book is not is one written from a particular theoretical perspective or one written by an advocate of one approach. Rather it is a comprehensive but detailed discussion of the range of options open to children, young people and their families. The content covers all a student, generalist or specialist clinician would wish for: theories, therapeutic skills, (including a detailed section on Solution Focused Brief therapy), assessment/decision making, supporting children & families, group work, working with educational settings, outcomes, and service delivery. The strength of the writing is demonstrated in Isabel's frequent inclusion of case examples and references to her experience. Of particular value to readers will be the online resources with sections on assessment, support, group work, working with schools and case examples of assessment. I commend this text and am sure it will be a well-thumbed, valuable addition to the libraries of speech and language courses and departments, as well as individual therapists.
