Susan Ogieris a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education, specialising in Art and Design. She works at the University of Roehampton, London. She is author of Teaching Primary Art and Design, (2017) published by Sage, as well as a series of books for children, professional and peer-reviewed journal articles, and book chapters. She has been involved in several EU funded cross-curricular education projects, developing learning materials that link art and design with citizenship and digital processes. Susan's most recently published book in the Learning Matters series is A Broad and Balanced Curriculum: Educating the whole child, (July 2019). Suzy Tutchellhas a lifelong commitment and involvement in art education. Having been an art subject leader for many years in a variety of London-based primary schools, she moved onto advisory work as a creativity and early years consultant and has been working in Higher Education for the past 10 years. As a lecturer, she currently leads the Art specialism on the primary BAED programme at the University of Reading.
She is a practising artist whenever possible and continues to develop her own knowledge and identity as an artist-teacher. She has more recently been involved in research projects relating to gender equality and art across all phases of education. Her publications include 'Young Children as Artists: Art and Design in the Early Years and Key Stage 1' (2014), 'Mastering Primary Art and Design' with Peter Gregory and Claire March (2020) and '100 Years of Women's Voices - a Herstory of Art' (2020).
