The values that Clarence Darrow meshed with his role as a lawyer came from many sources.

He was a philosopher, scientist, sociologist, historian, and theologian. Darrow in no way resembled the single-dimensional linear-thinking attorney that seems to be almost cliche and epidemic in the ?90s. He was not the abridged version of a lawyer. His endless effort to understand and appreciate the world outside the four walls of his law office contributed to his legendary ability as an advocate. More importantly, his effort contributed to his arriving at a right livelihood.
